South African Yoga-Safari Itinerary: Travel 30 January-9 February 2006
Lying at the southern tip of Africa between the Atlantic and Indian oceans, South Africa has an amazing variety of attractions, combine these with first-world cities such as Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban, the diversity of languages, custom, color and creed of it nearly 40 million people, and you have a cultural melting pot of fascinating proportions. South Africa is, indeed, a world in one country, a Rainbow Nation.
30 January 2006 La Couronne Hotel:
On your arrival at Cape Town International Airport, you will be met by our representative and will be transferred to your hotel in Franschoek where you will be staying for four nights.
Description of La Couronne Hotel
A Deluxe Hotel in Franschhoek with 18 elegant rooms with beautiful views, in-house masseuse, horse rides, hikes, fishing and excellent vineyards. Some of the elegant, spacious rooms are designed to show off the spectacular views. The Hotel is the perfect dining venue and meals can be enjoyed on the terrace overlooking the valley during summer.

31 January 2006: Today you will be taken on a full day Cape Peninsula tour
Yoga & meditation session at Cape Point.
Depart for the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, along one of South Africa's most scenic and popular routes. Cape Point is known (by tradition) where two marine ecosystems and oceans meet. Enjoy a splendid seafood lunch (included). After lunch, the coach moves through to Boulders Beach, which is home to a growing colony of the vulnerable African (or 'Jackass') penguin, which may easily be viewed at close quarters from the boardwalk.
Return to the hotel in the late afternoon.

1 February 2006: You will enjoy a half-day tour, to Table Mountain & Robben Island.
Yoga & meditation session at the hotel.
This morning you will depart on a half-day tour, visiting Table Mountain and Robben Island. Depart for Table Mountain (weather permitting) where you take the ultramodern rotating cable car to the top of the mountain. From here you can enjoy spectacular views over the city bowl, the Atlantic seaboard and Robben Island. Once you're back at the lower cable car station your awaiting coach will transfer you to the V&A Waterfront. Enjoy lunch at one of the restaurants (own account) before heading for the Clock Tower from where the ferry departs to Robben Island, it is most famous for having been the isolated prison of former South African President Nelson Mandela and many other black political dissidents. Return to your hotel.

2 February 2006: Winelands Hotel & Sante Wellness Center for a Day Spa Treatment
This morning you will be transferred to the Winelands Hotel & Sante Wellness Center for a day spa package with yoga and meditation. Lunch is included in the package. Return to your hotel.

After breakfast and check-out you will be transferred to Grootbos Nature Reserve for a three-night stay.
Description of the Grootbos Nature Reserve
Luxurious country lodge in Hermanus, with nine exclusive cottages, sundecks with mountain and sea views, swimming pool overlooking Walker Bay. Set among the ancient milkwood trees, our large, private cottages give the weary traveler a chance to unwind, surrounded by the splendors of nature and pampered by all the comforts of home. Each cottage has its own secluded balcony from which you can admire the sunsets over the ocean or start the day in tune with the forest birds. Original hand-painted floral and bird themes bring the harmony of nature into your cottage. Spacious, finely appointed bathrooms complete the feeling of utter luxury. Strolling between your cottage and the main lodge, winding pathways will guide you past all the colors and scents of the largest private fynbos garden in the world. 6-9 February 2006:
After breakfast and check-out you will be met at your hotel and transferred to Cape Town International Airport. [Traveling time is approx 90 min]. Check-in for your local flight to Johannesburg. On your arrival at Johannesburg International airport, you will be met by your local representative and transferred to Federal Air lounge for your scheduled charter flight to Phinda Private Game Reserve. [Flying time is approx 90min]
On arrival at Phinda Private Game Reserve you will be met by your ranger and transferred in open-vehicle to the Lodge. Time to freshen-up before lunch will be served. After lunch you will depart on a late afternoon game drive. After your game drive, you will enjoy dinner at the Lodge or in the boma area, where you will be able to share all the excitement of the game drive with your party. Yoga & meditation session on the beach.
3 x overnights at Phinda Forest Lodge in a chalet. Accommodation is on a fully inclusive basis (3 meals, local beers & spirits, house wines, soft drinks, tea/coffee) and 2 game drives per day.
Description of Phinda Forest Lodge
Luxury country lodge situated in the Phinda Private Game Reserve, in the Maputaland region of KwaZulu-Natal
Forest Lodge's 16 raised glass-encased chalets have a bedroom, lounge and spacious en suite bathroom with a bath and separate shower. Outside, wooden decks have been erected around the growing trees. Although surrounded on three sides by glass, the fertile forest floor and towering torchwood trees ensure privacy in each of the chalets. Constructed to minimize impact on the unique Sand Forest, the air-conditioned rooms are raised off the ground to allow smaller animals complete freedom of movement along the forest floor below. The central dining area, lounge and shaded swimming pool of this secluded camp overlook a tranquil open grassy vlei (wetland pan). The elevated lookout deck is a prime bird-watching spot for the approximately 400 species at Phinda. Yoga & meditation sessions on the beach & in the bush.
After your early morning game drive and breakfast on the last day, you will be transferred to Phinda airstrip for your scheduled charter flight back to Johannesburg.
Your yoga and meditation guide will be Lienette Crafoord, a certified yoga instructor with 4 years of teaching experience. Her teaching style mixes a blend of Power Vinyassa, Bikram Yoga, Forrest Yoga, moving and sitting meditations as well as breathing techniques to challenge your body, open your mind, and awaken your spirit. Working to bring strength and flexibility together will create balance in your body as well as your life. Lienette spent her life traveling the globe as a sports woman. Sailing and running primed her to be a traveling yogi. Incorporating global energies into the yoga practice offers a unique experience.
